Rep. Buckley Nominates Ellison Graduate Glenn Peacock for Texas Armed Services Scholarship

KILLEEN, Tex. -- State Representative Brad Buckley (R-Salado) is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Glenn Peacock of Killeen as the Texas Armed Services Scholar for Texas House District 54.

Peacock, a member of the Ellison High School Class of 2020, was recognized as a Distinguished Cadet in his high school's JROTC program, and served as president of the Ellison Debate Society.  Peacock plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station and will serve as an incoming member of the Corps of Cadets.  Following graduation, Peacock hopes to attend law school and become a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer with the United States Army.

“Glenn is a sharp young man with impressive goals and plans for the future," Buckley said of Peacock. "I am proud to nominate him for this prestigious scholarship, and I'm excited to see another Ellison Eagle go on to Texas A&M University from the great city of Killeen.  I am grateful that Glenn wants to serve our country in this capacity, and I know he will be an incredible JAG officer in the future.”

The Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program was created by the Texas Legislature and exists to provide assistance to promising students from the State of Texas who are committed to education and service. The program encourages young leaders to participate in the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, the Texas State Guard, the United States Coast Guard, the United States Merchant Marine, or to become commissioned officers in any branch of the armed services of the United States. Each year, members of the Texas Legislature each select one nominee to receive a conditional scholarship award.

Rep. Brad Buckley is a first-term legislator from Salado, Texas, and represents part of Bell County and all of Lampasas County in Central Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University, and is a local veterinarian in Killeen, Texas. Dr. Buckley is a cattle rancher and raises and trains cutting horses. He is the proud husband to Susan and father to three amazing children, all of whom are Aggies.
